Apprenticeships (Certificate in Plant Operations Level 2)

SB Training are pleased to announce that they can now offer apprenticeships in:-

- Building / Construction
- Material Handling
- Road Maintenance

Who is this for?

- People working in or pursuing a career in plant operations
- 16 to 25 year olds, either employed or looking at gaining employment within the industry (we have limited places for people over 25)
- All candidates will need to be employed prior to and during the apprenticeship

The Apprenticeship Programme

Successful apprentices must achieve competence in the following:-

- Key Skills Application of Number
- Key Skills Communication
- An induction programme which includes Employment Rights & Responsibilities and Health & Safety
- Practical training on four machines
- NVQ assessment on one of the four machines trained on
- A CPCS test on one of the four machines (if required)
- Personal Learning Thinking Skills
- Site safety roles and responsibilities

Delivery:-

- the apprenticeship will be delivered via a 4 to 5 week block release (1 to 2 weeks at a time)
- on completion candidates will be assessed on-site on machine of their employer’s choice
- Key Skills will be delivered over 2 to 3 day releases, if required to complete it

Apprentices will gain qualifications / certification in:-

- Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Plant Operations
- Certificate in Plant Operations Level 2
- Recognised machine license (NPORS/CPCS/ITSSAR)
- CPCS red card on completion, with a CPCS blue card on one machine (if required)

Employer Committment

- 19 to 24 year olds: employer contribution is £1000 plus vat.  Up to £5000 can be claimed back on the Grant System if the employer pays into the CITB levi
- 16 to 18 year olds: fully funded
- Employer must support “off the job” training of 4 to 5 weeks, on 1 to 2 week block release
- The apprentice must have access to the machine, and be able to complete their NVQ assessment
- The apprentice must be provided with any necessary PPE
- The employer must be available to signe any necessary paperwork and complete a Health & Safety assessment
- The apprentice must have sat and passed the ConstructionSkills Health & Safety test within the last 2 years
