Road & Street Works Training

NRSWA Training for Operatives : Units 1 - 6 + 9

In order to meet the legal requirements of people excavating in the highway, SB Training deliver a course to meet the City & Guilds criteria. This Course is a hand’s on practical course with in depth training as well as practical assessments.

This course is for any operatives involved in excavation and reinstatement on the public highway:

  • Unit 001: Location and avoidance of underground services
  • Unit 002: Signing, lighting and guarding
  • Unit 003: Excavation in the highway, specifications, techniques, road types and materials
  • Unit 004: Reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials
  • Unit 005: Reinstatement of non-bituminous sub-base and road-base materials
  • Unit 006: Laying practices and reinstatement of cold lay bituminous materials, specification and types of materials
  • Unit 009: Reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete foot-ways

NRSWA Training for Supervisors : Units 1 + 10 - 14 + 16

This course again meets the City & Guilds criteria for people excavating in the highway.

This course is for any supervisor involved in excavation and reinstatement on the public highway:

  • Unit 001: Location and avoidance of underground services
  • Unit 010: Monitoring Signing, lighting and guarding, co-ordination procedures and code of practice
  • Unit 011: Monitoring excavation in the highway, specifications, techniques, road types and materials
  • Unit 012: Monitoring reinstatement and compaction of backfill materials
  • Unit 013: Monitoring reinstatement of non-bituminous sub-base and road-base materials
  • Unit 014: Monitoring laying practices and reinstatement of cold lay bituminous materials, specification and types of materials.
  • Unit 016: Monitoring reinstatement of modular surfaces and concrete foot-ways
